Pacific Flow Control recently completed a valve insertion project in the City of Brandon. During this project, our team installed four 10-inch Mueller valve inserts and one 5-inch valve insert.

Projects like this help municipalities improve control over their water systems while keeping the pipeline in service and minimizing disruptions to residents.

What Is a Valve Insert

A valve insert is a method used to install a new valve into an existing pressurized pipeline. Instead of shutting down the system and cutting out a section of pipe, the valve is inserted directly into the pipeline.

Once installed, the new valve allows operators to isolate sections of the pipeline when maintenance or repairs are needed. This makes future work on the system much easier and reduces the need for large water shutdowns.

Why Municipalities Use Valve Inserts

Many older water systems were built with fewer isolation valves than modern systems require. Over time, utilities may need to add additional valves to improve system control.

Valve insertion is commonly used when:

• A new isolation point is needed
• A shutdown of the entire pipeline is not practical
• Utilities want to reduce service interruptions
• Future maintenance or upgrades are being planned

Because the work is performed on a pressurized pipeline, it requires specialized equipment and experienced technicians.

Our Services

In addition to valve inserts, Pacific Flow Control provides several pipeline services used by municipalities, industrial facilities, and utilities. These include:

• Hot tapping
• Line stopping
• Pipe and line freezing
• Hydrant and valve servicing
• PE and HDPE pipe squeezing
